The project “Improving the living conditions of children and their families in 30 poor communities in the Kita district of Mali” aimed to expand and improve access to modern, clean and affordable energy services for domestic, public and productive uses in 30 villages across four municipalities in the Kayes region of Mali. It was funded by EuropeAid and Plan International Spain, and implemented by a consortium comprising Plan International Spain, Plan Mali, Conseils et Appui pour l’Éducation à la Base (CAEB), the Renewable Energy Agency (AER) and Energía sin Fronteras (ESF).
Mandated by ESF, Eneris carried out a detailed stocktaking study of Mali’s energy sector, with a focus on rural electrification, renewable energy and household energy. Based on this study, Eneris formulated actionable recommendations for the Renewable Energy Agency of Mali. Eneris also conducted an in-depth analysis of conditions and measures required for the long-term viability of renewable energy electrification and clean cooking solutions, producing a practical sustainability guide inspired by ESF’s field experience.
