Despite significant progress in expanding access to modern cooking fuels, traditional biomass remains the dominant source of cooking energy, accounting for over 42% of the country’s total energy balance. Recognising the challenges of the deployment of clean cooking, the Senegalese government has drawn up the National Strategy for Domestic Fuels and Biofuels (2025–2035), which sets out a long-term vision aimed at ensuring universal, equitable and affordable access to clean cooking facilities by 2035.
Eneris co-led the consultancy to assist the Government of Senegal in finalising and implementing the National Strategy for Clean Cooking 2025–2035 by providing the analytical basis, implementation pathways and necessary policy recommendations underpinned by robust evidence, realistic implementation, appropriate funding mechanisms and a supportive legal and institutional framework.
